Sunday Wine Tastings

Our Sunday wine tastings only occur on the last Sunday of each month, at 3:30 pm. Unlike our Saturday tastings, there are six wines rather than four, the wines have a broader range of quality and price, and each wine is accompanied by an amuse-bouche that’s specially made to compliment the wine. Again, reservations are required, and web and email reservations will not guarantee you a seat, to please make your reservation by calling (520) 326-9363.

Those of you who’ve been getting these emails or attending our wine tastings for a while will know that we do our best to remind you periodically that when one is faced with a mysterious bottle of wine about which one knows nothing, one must turn the bottle around and investigate who it is that […]

Fruit of the paddy- Sake tasting this Sunday

My Dear Kind Sippers, In an attempt to banish the impression that Sake is strictly for your sushi-related enjoyment, we’re hosting a tasting of downright poetic Sakes this Sunday, June 24th. Elsewhere in Spain

Hello, Wine Sippers. If you’ve chatted with me about wines that I’m convinced are an excellent value, I’ve probably extolled to you the virtues of Spain.  The thing about Spain is the wines are really reasonably priced for the quality you get.  The other thing about Spain is that in your own tasting history, unless […]

Hi, wine tasters. Thursday is Wine Rep Day at Feast, which means a dozen or so people come to share wines with us in hopes that we’ll put them on our list. As a general rule, maybe a quarter or a third of the wines are potential candidates for the list, and we taste through […]

Pioneers of their regions

Hello, my Dionysian friends, As Arizona celebrates 100 years of statehood this month, we thought it might be a nice salute to our own pioneer spirit if we offered a tribute to some other pioneers as well. This month’s tasting features the pioneers of their respective wine-making regions, both New World and Old. The wines […]

The wines of Pascual Toso

Sunday, April 24th, we’ll host our customary Last Sunday wine tasting. The six wines this month are all from a gentle giant of a fellow named Pascual Toso. He’s reserved fellow, quiet and distinguished, and most importantly, he’s a fellow who offers really high-quality wines for a remarkably fair price. In fact, I think I’ll […]

The wines of the Loire

Hello, Feastlings, While the Loire is home to Sancerre, which we’ll be tasting, and to Chinon, which we’ll be tasting, our own predilection around here is for the Chenin Blanc, which we’ll be tasting.  To borrow a quote from Peter Kasperski of Kazimierz Wine Bar in Scottsdale, “Baumard’s chenins are so mind-bogglingly complex that when […]

The wines of Piedmont

Hello, wine sippers. When I was cutting my wine teeth, and well beyond that time, I had a hard time with the wines of Piedmont. Figuring out Barolo and Barbaresco, Barbera d’Alba and Barbera d’Asti is a difficult task, for a multitude of reasons. Yes, they’re wines that you don’t get the opportunity to taste […]
