Hello, Feastlings.
There are a couple of dozen wine distributors in Arizona, and each one has anywhere from a couple of reps to dozens, maybe even scores of them. Their collective job is to get the hundreds or thousands of bottles in their respective portfolios into the glasses of consumers, by way of shops and restaurants, hotels, bars and caterers and any other purveyors of adult beverage. Each of them gets to taste no small amount of wine, as do we, but as they make their rounds, there’s only one person who has the opportunity to taste everything they trot around town: the wine rep him- or herself.
This week, one of the people who’s been running wine around town for decades shares with you four of the gems in his portfolio that he’s particularly fond of, either because he likes them himself, or because they’re sleepers- wines with consistent appeal to a large audience. And remember, he’s tasted thousands of them. On Saturday, December 3, at 2:00, our friend Mike Galkin will bring by four red wines- two from Italy, one from Spain and one from Napa (Mount Veeder, to be specific,) and tell you a little bit about each one. The tasting, as so many of our tastings do, will cost a mere $15 plus tax and tip, and offer you up four really good bottles for your consideration for your holiday table. If you’d like to reserve a seat at the tasting, give us a jingle at (520) 326-9363 and we’ll be happy to put your name on one.
