A couple of weeks ago, we were chatting it up with our friend Emilie about the Languedoc, and we began to find it suitable to talk about the South, not just of France, but the South in general, and it nearly felt like we had a tasting lined up, when a few twists and turns in our tasting altered the theme- it next became a question of wines from the southern part of each appellation- Beaujolais is the southern bit of Burgundy, and the Left Bank is south of the Right Bank, and before you know it, we had four French wines picked out. Some because they were fresh and summery, and one because we bought it on a deal that brought it down from its normal $55 price tag to a mere $40, and less if you buy it at the tasting- another 10% off by the bottle and another 15% off in a mix-and-match case.
