Las Hogueras de San Juan

Hello, Feastlings.

While throughout the Iberian Peninsula, people celebrate the Summer Solstice in the guise of a festival of bonfires to honor Saint John the Baptist, the idea of igniting a fire here in Tucson seems counterintuitive.  Summer isn’t necessarily something we celebrate here; we mostly hole up indoors and keep ourselves air-conditioned, jumping into an air-conditioned car to go from an air-conditioned house to some other air-conditioned location, and then back again until it’s safe to go outside for more than a few minutes.

There are, however, reasons to celebrate the summer here- traffic lightens up and the city once again belongs to the brave few who tough out the summer here.  You can go to the movies or a grocery store or restaurant- anywhere, really, without having to brave a big crowd.  The early mornings and late nights are still beautiful. There are bargains to be had from the local businesses who want to coax you in to visit, and events as well.

At Feast, we’ll be lighting the figurative bonfires of Saint John on Wednesday, June 24th, so in addition to our regular menu, we’ll also be offering some Spanish and Portuguese treats all day long.  What’s more, the built-in corkage fee on our wine list will be waived for every Iberian wine on the list, so any Spanish or Portuguese bottle will be available in the restaurant at retail price, saving you $15 on a bottle, $8 on a half bottle, and in the odd case of a magnum, $30.

The menu we’ll be offering that day, alongside the regular lunch and dinner menu, is below.  We hope you’ll join us.
