Lunch prix fixe to save you a few bucks

Dear Feastlings,

As my mother-in-law used to say, more times than I can remember, “ten cents is ten cents.” To someone who grew up during the Depression with enough siblings you’d need two hands to count them, ten cents made a serious impression.  As we’ve all been tightening our belts these days, I’d note that four or five dollars, is, in fact, four or five dollars, and so we’ve instituted, in addition to our happy hour, a little lunchtime prix fixe, whereby you can have a lunch and a glass of wine or a dessert, and round the price of the whole thing down to $25.  This month, the menu looks like this:

Lunch prix fixe at Feast

$25 prix fixe, plus tax and tip

Until 3:00 pm Tuesday through Saturday

Choice of

Feast grilled cheese~ seared Halloumi cheese, honey-roasted eggplant, tomato and red onion on a French roll.
Served with mixed greens.

Red lentil-crusted blue shrimp with minted cucumber-carrot-jicama slaw and tamarind sauce. ◊

Croque Monsieur~ Classic French ham and Gruyere sandwich broiled with béchamel sauce and cheese.  Served on brioche with mixed greens.

Fresh and roasted watermelon with chili-lime dressing, served over Little Gem lettuce with miso-tahini drizzle.  Sunflower seed garnish.  ◊

Choice of a wine or dessert

Honey cake with caramelized bananas and Manchego cheese. Served with banana vinegar. ◊

Pavlova~ meringue filled with fresh fruit and served over passionfruit purée. ◊

Glass of Gomez Cruzado Tempranillo/Garnacha, Rioja DOC

Glass of Newton Unfiltered Chardonnay, Napa Valley

It’ll change a bit each month, but it means you don’t have to scratch your chin and waffle before making up your mind about whether you deserve dessert or a glass of wine alongside your lunch.  We hope you’ll join us.
