Animal magnetism

Dear Feastlings,

As wine lovers, we are often victims of geography.  So often, our tastings are “wines of the Rhône,” for example, or “the Pacific Northwest.” And it’s great fun (and practice) to taste wines from a specific place next to one another.  You can begin to develop an understanding of the terroir of various wine regions around our little planet.  But sometimes, it’s nice to find a theme that lets us pour wines from a smattering of different locales, so we seek out a theme that bends the rules a bit.  This Saturday, May 24, our friend Emilie will be in at 2:00 pm with four wines from the Old World and the New, on either side of the equator, and it promises to be a good time.  Her choice?  An animal theme- some whose producers named the wines after members of the animal kingdom, some whose producers or varietals are themselves named after animals.  Mostly, though, it’s just four tasty wines, two white and two red, and the chance to taste your way around the world without leaving Speedway.

If you’d like to join us, please give a call at (520) 326-9363 and reserve your seat.  The tasting is $18 plus tax and tip and the wines will be discounted to attendees.  We hope you can make it.
