Dear Feastlings,
We get to taste a lot of wine around here, but when you stop to consider that we have a dozen-plus wine purveyors and each of them has a portfolio of hundreds to thousands of wines, it becomes clear that there’s no conceivable way to taste it all. If a rep takes out, say, one to two dozen bottles a week and we’re one account of, say, sixty or seventy accounts (or more- remember, everybody’s short-staffed right now,) we’re lucky to taste a couple hundred wines from any given distributor. The sales reps don’t even have the ability to taste everything in their portfolio.
That said, they know their wines a heck of a lot better than we do, so once in a while, we like to have them dig into their samples and bring in the things that they think are among the best values in their book. You know, because they’ve gotten to taste them even though we haven’t necessarily. This week our buddy Mike Galkin will be here with four wines that he- and now, we- think are great values for the price. Amarone for $30? Yes, please.
The tasting is this Saturday, April 15, at 2:00 pm and costs $15 plus tax and tip, and you’ll get further discounts on the wines as well. Give us a jingle at (520) 326-9363 and we’ll save a spot at the table for you.
