Hello, Feastlings.
Astronomers are quick to point out that our little globe is, shall we say, a bit Eurocentric. It makes sense, of course- it was created by Europeans, this map we know so well, so why wouldn’t they make it from their own perspective? The planet, though, is just a planet, spinning around, rotating around our little sun, and our little solar system is just- well, out there. There isn’t a top or a bottom. This week we pull the corks on bottles from the hemisphere that we’re not occupying- not the Eastern one, but the Southern one. Sometimes it’s nice to see what they’re doing on the other side of the fence. Or the equator.
We’ll taste two wines from South America and Two from South Africa- we’ll have to circle back for Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania another day. But it promises to be an educational mix of varietals and styles, each delicious in its own right. You can reserve a seat or a set of samples by calling us at (520) 326-9363. The tasting begins at 2:00 on the 4th, and costs $15 plus tax and tip.
THE TASTING BEGINS ON ZOOM AT 2:00 PM ON SATURDAY, June 4. THE ZOOM MEETING NUMBER FOR THE TASTING IS 863 4244 6576 and the passcode is 246913.
The world is upside down.
