The Bonfires of San Juan

Dear Feastlings,

We generally celebrate the Bonfires of San Juan, a Spanish Summer Solstice celebration, by waiving corkage on Spanish wines and offering up some Spanish specials.  Since there’s no corkage on carryout and that’s still all we’re doing right now, we thought we’d offer that 10% discount that we normally only give on a case to anyone buying any bottle of the Spanish stuff the entire weekend leading up to our Bonfires Day, which for the record, is June 23rd.  We’ll be taking orders for the specials we’re offering in advance, all the way through Saturday the 20th, and from that point onward it’s catch-as-catch-can.  We’ll likely overshoot what we need by a bit, but don’t wait until the day of to order or you’ll likely be tucking into a lobster bread pudding rather than a paella.  You know, a word to the wise and all that.  Here are the specials we’ll be offering, three of which are appetizers and then an entree serving of paella.  Plus flan.  You can’t have the Bonfires of San Juan without flan.  What’s more, we’ll be offering all Spanish wines on the list at 10% off from bottle one!  Just please remember these two key points:

• these dishes will be available for pickup or delivery on Tuesday the 23rd ONLY. We won’t have them available before then.

• you’ll need to order them by Saturday the 20th to be assured they’ll be available for you.

Faves a la Catalana~ fava beans with onions, bacon and house-made botifarra negra (blood sausage.) ◊

Albondigas almendradas~ pork and beef meatballs in a saffron-almond sauce.

Champiñones al ajillo~ Sautéed mushrooms with garlic, paprika, lemon and Sherry. ◊

classic saffron rice dish with lobster, shrimp, clams and mussels with Spanish chorizo and vegetables. ◊
