The worst is yet to come.

Dear Feastlings,

I’m deeply ashamed about this, but I spend a significant amount of time hoping for the worst. In the fall, I begin hoping for terrible weather in the north and the east in early October, since by then we’ve endured a slow season that began between Easter and Mother’s Day, and I’ve likely used up all the money I’ve set aside to get us through the summer. Now, while it’s still beautiful, I cross my fingers for enough heat that it’s uncomfortable to eat at a restaurant with a patio so that we have a fighting chance to start off the slow season on the good foot. I’m not proud that I do this, but I do it nonetheless.

Now, with the exodus from Tucson already beginning and a wine dinner only two days away,

Quinta do Vallado dinner with Peter Adelman

I’m hoping some of you had plans for Thursday that fell through, and that you might join us for some portuguese wines and the food pairings we’re making to go with them. I’m also hoping that the 101 degree day that we’re slated to have on Mother’s Day makes people rethink the patio siuation and that some of you join us here instead, where we’ll be open from 11:00 onward, offering some brunch specials alongside some Mother’s Day specials alongside our regular menu. The Mother’s Day specials look like this:

and the May menu, which begins today, looks like this:

There’s a wine tasting, which again takes place indoors, this Saturday at 2:00, when the high is meant to be 98 degrees, so again, I hope, again, ashemedly, for unpleasant weather.

What Emilie believes you should be tasting. Us, too.

Whatever the case, we’d love to see you, and if you came in for a bite, we’d make it worth your while- we’ll give our all in terms of food, drink, service and general hospitality. It’ll be like going out, which you richly deserve. And it’ll be air conditioned.

See you soon.

Love,

Doug and your numerous other friends at Feast
