Dear, dear Feastlings,
i’ve reasoned with myself a great deal during the pandemic. While I can’t imagine the stresses of being a first responder right now, or nursing, or working in any capacity in a Covid ward or an emergency department, I’m also acutely aware that everyone- EVERYONE- in my industry is taking a yearlong drubbing. Likely a year-and-a-half to two-year drubbing. And you’ve caught me lamenting about it on more than one occasion. But even though we’re down dramatically from normal times, the pandemic has taught me to allow myself an occasional luxury, and since we’re sitting on no small amount of wine, that’s usually the luxury I turn to on a rough day.
I hereby encourage you to do the same. I know wine’s not for everyone, but be good to yourself today. You’ve had a rough year too, I’m fairly certain. And if it’s wine that sounds appealing, you can still catch today’s tasting if you’d like. Four wines, five guests, and a glass of luxury, if only for an hour or two. Here’s the scoop on the tasting:

If wine’s not your bag, there’s food, and breads and pastries, too. By the end of the day, (I’m talking to you, Denny,) we’ll have cartoonishly large brown butter triple chocolate pecan cookies warm from the oven. And so much more. The menu’s here:

So as thirteenths go, today shouldn’t be all that bad. Just sayin’.
