Dear Feastlings,
I hesitate to even mention it, for fear that the rug will be pulled out from under us once again, but it seems crazily like summer may finally be drawing to a close. Yes, it’s technically been over sine the equinox last Monday, but Saturday it felt physically and spiritually as if it were still trying to rally: an enveloping coolness in the early hours, giving in to a parting of the clouds by ten o’clock, and warm yet again. Still, those mornings that may not yet have a chill about them but still no longer light up a sizzle on the skin are beginning to lead us to believe that there’ll soon be a reprieve.
Around here, such a reprieve means red wine is back on the table, both figuratively and literally, but since we’re only dipping our collective toe into the fall season, we’ll start with light-bodied reds. This Saturday, October 4, our friend Megan brings four light reds that help bridge the gap between summer and autumn- light enough not to weigh us down on a still-toasty day, but decidedly red, and decidedly the harbinger of cooler moments to come. The tasting begins at 2:00 this Saturday, and costs $18 plus tax and tip. If you’d like to join us for some reds that work nicely during this questionable time, call us (520) 326-9363.
