Dearest Feastlings,
Wine dinners happen in Tucson on occasion, but seldom when it’s still a hundred degrees outside. This is predominantly because winemakers, marketing directors and wine folk in general pretty much get to decide when they’re headed where they’re headed. That is, if you can go sell wine to my brother in Colorado in September, you’ll probably do that rather than selling it to me right now, and then you’ll pay Tucson a visit in December or so, when you’re glad to be here.
I don’t know what crafty devil convinced Armin Gratl, the Export Manager for Elena Walch (and her father Wilhelm), that Tucson in mid-September was a desirable plan, but I know that I’ve been convinced that staying in that creepy hotel by the train station in Rome was a convenience and a good idea, all the way until they had my money. So I’m not telling Armin anything until he gets here and uncorks some of Elena’s award-winning wines, which will be on Thursday, September 15th, at 6:30 pm. If you look at the menu below and think you’d like to join us, please give us a call at 326-9363 to make sure we hang onto a spot for you. And thanks for considering it.
