Dear Feastlings,
I’ve made numerous attempts to analyze my procrastination. Indecision, evidently, is a sign of depression, but I can think of plenty of times in my life where I’ve been paralyzed by indecision but still quite happy. I’m also acutely aware of overbooking myself. I’m just a boy who can’t say no. I’ve committed to more events and meetings and other obligations than I can begin to think of, and the door to my office is open to nearly all comers most of the day. The result? I’m behind. So very far behind.
Is the Valentine’s Day menu written? Yes, but I still need to hear back from a couple of purveyors about ingredient availability before I can post it. It this Saturday’s End-of-the-Month wine tasting figured out? It is. Is it posted? Maybe I can get it posted before sending this email out, though that open-door policy is currently killing me. Our second donation run has been in the works since we dropped off a hundred meals last Friday at GAP ministries, but it won’t come to fruition until the middle of next week. You know, during the Gem Show.
It’ll all get accomplished one way or the other- we began imposing a series of deadlines on me, and the crew has already expressed some supercilious wonder at my getting the February menu written before this week began. So now I just need to set deadlines for everything else, and perhaps it will all fall into place without shaving a month off my life expectancy. Or it’ll shave a month off my life expectancy a week earlier than it would have. Either way, come Tuesday you’ll have a February menu to enjoy, and with any luck, you’ll have a Valentine’s Day menu posted before that. And in the meantime, you’ll have a wine tasting to attend if you’re so inclined.
Look at that. I got it posted after all.
More soon, once I’ve moved up my deadlines.
Love,
Doug
