Dear Feastlings,
A Tucson restaurant is a slow motion accordion. One night it’s tiny and compressed, and the next it’s extended to its maximum capacity. Such has been the case this summer, anyhow, going from a Friday where we only use part of the restaurant to a Saturday that’s busy enough that two of us need to run back to help the kitchen keep up. And the soundtrack in my head is a bandoneon as well, brimming with drama and tension, reaching a climax around 7:30 pm and leaving two exhausted tangueros panting and sweating on the floor by 9 or 10 pm.
Tonight the September menu begins, which I imagine will expand the squeezebox a bit, but I reckon it will shrink again tomorrow, as people hold off for the deal that is Sonoran Restaurant Week,
https://www.sonoranrestaurantweek.com/
whereupon we’ll be stuffed full again. All I can do is hope that we handle it well. For our part, we’ll be offering both lunchtime and dinnertime Restaurant Week pricing, lunch until 3:00, dinner all day long. Sonoran Restaurant week should really be called Sonoran Restaurant Week and a Half, as it begins this Friday the 5th, and goes through Sunday the fourteenth, and there are over a hundred restaurants participating, so I recommend looking over all the restaurants on their website and planning your week (and a half) accordingly, as some of us are closed a day or two during the week.
And some of us, like Feast, for example, are doing special dinners. We’ve uprooted the Bodega Pierce wine dinner that was slated for this Sunday and set it back down on Friday, September 12th. You’ll still need to call for a reservation, as Resy won’t differentiate between the wine dinner and a regular reservation, so if this menu is of interest to you,
give us a jingle at (520) 326-9363 and we’ll hold a seat for you.
While the dinner’s been moved, you’re still welcome and encouraged to come in this Sunday afternoon, September 7th, to take in Bruce McGrew’s exceptional painting, and perhaps raise a glass to his memory.
And lastly, of course, there’s the primary reason I’ve sent you this missive: Today the September menu begins, and you should come an avail yourself of it. I must note here, everything we served at the staff tasting today went over quite well, and I dare say you’ll enjoy it. You can see the new menu here:

As for me, I’ll hope the accordion stays fairly steady for now, but if you want some drama, here are a couple of links for you.
Thanks, everyone.
Your buddy,
Doug
