Oh yeah, that’s why I do this.

Dear Feastlings,

Bellyache as I may about the trials and tribulations of owning and operating a small business in trying times, I’m well aware that I’m a fortunate sort. I have friends who make their living at jobs that weary them, and that offer no satisfaction in return, but while mine often gives me a drubbing, I’m ultimately doing a thing that I really like to do.

For a great many people, food and wine are hobbies, or even passions, and I get to make my living doing it. As the season ebbs, and as we find that last handful of motivated people to join us on the crew here, I can spend a little less time covering shifts on the line, or panicking about mispicked deliveries, and focus a little more on the food and wine, which, it happens, are the reason I got into this foolish industry. I’m still crossing t’s and dotting i’s on the May menu that begins next Tuesday, but in the meantime, I’ve gotten a few other items checked off of my to-do list. We’ll approach it chronologically:

First, there’s this Saturday’s wine tasting:

Being neighborly

Next, of course, will be the aforementioned May menu, and I’m in the home stretch on that one. You’ll get the menu next Tuesday, or just as likely, Wednesday.

After that comes Mother’s Day, and we’ll be opening up on yet another Sunday in hopes of accomplishing great and celebratory meals for you matriarchs,

Opening up on a Sunday for mom

and a scant two days after that, we’ve managed to shoehorn in one more wine dinner, for those of you who haven’t fled to cooler climes.

Poggio Torselli wine dinner with Giuseppe Sorgentone

Any of these occasions should prove worthy if you feel like treating yourself or someone you love. We hope you’ll consider it.

See you soon,

Your pal Doug
